MotherAid on a 6 months campaign to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls in Rural communities.
#Raiseyourvoice to end violence Against women/girls campaign

15 in 20 women/girls around the world will experience violence in their lifetimes. Yet there are too few conversations, too little action, poor data and limited investment to stop the violence.
MothetAid with support from NWTF decided to take action through this campaign to end this menace.
The campaign was chosen based on a consultation with women/girls who are victims of one violence or the other..thier concerns, stigmatization and what is happening around them that they want to take action on.

Because we must

Violence against women and Girls is an all too common problem around the world. It happens to women/girls who live in the communities where we have pledged to make a difference.
It happens to our colleagues,to us,to our family and friends, to people in our neighborhood,
We have a responsibility to these women/ girls and this is an opportunity to empower them to speak out and take action.

Yes we can

Our voices count. We can all end this menace by raising our voices. The innocent girl in that community needs to understand when she’s being abused .and need to know she has a voice and her voice is her power…
The woman who’s been beaten and violated every now and then but cannot not speak up because of patriarchy and norms…need to know she can end the abuse with just speaking out and getting help….the mother of that little girl of 12 years who’s father is planning to give out in marriage needs to know there’s a brighter and promising future ahead of her innocent little girl..she needs to use her voice to safe her future…….we can all join our hands together and do this. .

Women/girls are tired of being victims of Abuse

The campaign was chosen based on a consultation with women/girls about what concerns them the most and what they most want to take action on…

Because education is key
Education, and in particular non-formal education, is critical for ending violence – and we are experts in non-formal education. Non-formal education can create a powerful force for change by empowering women and young girls to understand and assert their rights, and by challenging root causes of violence such as gender stereotypes and inequality and reaching out to boys and young men too.

Because no one else is
You might think there are a lot of campaigns out there to end violence against women / girls , There are not. There are some that focus on ending violence against women. There are some that focus on ending a specific form of violence in a specific place. But there are no global campaigns dedicated to ending violence in all its forms against girls and young women. UN Women still tell us that this is a space where there is no data, no voice, no programmes and no investment, and our research shows this to be true on the ground
So join Mother Aid with support from Nigerian Women Trust Fund to campaign against GBV
